As a 2nd generation optician in San Francisco since 1979 and Los Angeles since 2008, we've earned first access to international designs for sunglasses, eyeglasses, and the top lenses in the business. We carry Alexander Daas, Barton Perreira, Bevel, Blake Kuwahara, Celine, ic! Berlin, Lindberg, Lunor, Natalie Blanc, Theo, Vuarnet, Woodys Barcelona and more. Our lens selection is vast ranging from free-form and digital HD-quality lenses to Shamir, Zeiss, Varilux, Seiko and more.
We offer eyeglasses and sunglasses in San Diego with prescription lenses including single vision lenses, progressive lenses, bifocal and trifocal lenses, office lenses, computer / intermediate lenses, and reading / near-vision lenses. All of these prescription glasses can be made with a range of materials including plastic, polycarbonate, trivex, and high index. Treatment options include anti-reflective coating, polarized, and transition / photochromic.
All of our lenses have scratch resistance and UV protection included and your prescription glasses can be made as ophthalmic (clear lenses) or even prescription sunglasses. We are one of the few opticians with our own state of the art labs so that we can craft your lenses into your frame with higher quality and precision than what would result from sending your frame out to a mass production or insurance lab.
Browse our collections of men’s sunglasses, men’s eyeglasses, women’s sunglasses, and women’s eyeglasses online before visiting our San Diego boutique in person.
Located in a beachside town along the coast of Southern California, Alexander Daas Opticians is just blocks away from San Diego’s most coveted Del Mar beaches and the Pacific Ocean.
This top San Diego eyewear shop is in the center of Del Mar Village, nestled in between clothing boutiques Durante‘s Menswear and Sundancer and near dozens of local staples such as Julie’s Beachwear, Frustrated Cowboy, Marquis Fine Jewelers, Rusty Del Mar, and Joni and Susi, to name a few, including the famous luxury San Diego hotel, L’Auberge.
Once known as a peaceful getaway for Hollywood’s biggest stars, Del Mar is now a destination for many from around the world. At any time you’ll find visitors and locals enjoying the quaint shops and restaurants, beautiful weather, warm ocean water, and the family friendly vibes (don’t miss the kids park near the Del Mar Beach green situated just minutes from Poseiden and Jake’s, restaurants located on the beach). And, it’s just a close drive to the seafood restaurant Brigantine Del Mar.
Just south off the main road you’ll find the hidden gem, Stratford cafe, and can visit the Del Mar Farmer’s Market on the weekends before stopping by Nice Cream for a scoop of Butter Pecan or Honey Lavender, or at Seaside Yogurt for a classic array of yogurt and toppings.
Steps away is swimwear hot spot Pebbles by the Beach, the go-to Del Mar Starbucks and the local corner drink spot WestBrew Del Mar. This is the place to be during happy hour for their locally brewed beer and organic menu (they buy from farmers and fisherman directly, responsibly sourcing their own ingredients).
Walk across the street and you’ll find the famous Del Mar Plaza, made up of restaurants like Italian cuisine Il Fornaio, Monarch Ocean Pub, Pacifica Del Mar (and Pacific Cafe), Tamarindo, and sushi spot Shimbashi Izakaya. One of our favorite daytime activities is to enjoy Kini Koffee on the rooftop deck while playing outdoor games.
When Fourth of July rolls around, fireworks can be seen from Del Mar Plaza, Del Mar Dog Beach, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds where the famous San Diego County Fair takes place (also known as the Del Mar Fair).
One of the most well known times of the year to visit Del Mar is during the Del Mar Racetrack season when locals and tourists alike put on their statement headpieces and hats and go to the race track to see their favorite horses race.
